Excitement is brewing for Summer Motion 2010. Recently, it was selected as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society.
Read about it in the story from the Ashland Daily Independent:
Summer Motion has been selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 events for June 2010.
“We are excited and honored to be once again selected as a Top 20 event, but more importantly it is a compliment to the community,” said Summer Motion President Chuck Charles. “The community is the one that puts this on.”
With extensive media coverage as well as interest from people looking for places to go and things to do, the Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 is expected to generate considerable interest in the Ashland event from those outside the immediate area.
“I think a lot of people will be pointed toward us,” Charles said, explaining many potential festival participants will immediately find Summer Motion while searching the Internet for festivals and similar events. “For the level of entertainment we provide — for free — it is hard to beat.”
Charles said Summer Motion committee members will begin working on next year’s entertainment schedule in the new year. At that time committee members will be able to consider the specific tour schedules of available entertainers to determine which will be available for a performance in Ashland.
With the success of 2009 Summer Motion at Central Park and ongoing work at the traditional site at the city’s riverfront, Charles said festival organizers are making plans for both locations.
“We have great ambiance on the river and that’s our home,” Charles said, adding festival organizers continue to explore new ideas and opportunities to enhance the city’s signature festival.
